Central Baptist Teens come out for a day of service

Over the summer, the teen group from Central Baptist Church chooses one ministry per week and spends several hours serving. This past week was our turn! A van pulled up to Phillip's Love Bears office with a load of people who were curious about the ministry and ready to help in any way needed. I, Amos Love, a board member of Phillip's Love Bears, led the work group and shared all about the ministry and the story of how Phillip's Love Bears began.

More than just making teddy bears

Making teddy bears is a key part of what we need help with at Phillip's Love Bears but there are always so many needed things that go on behind the scenes. This group came prepared to dig in and get to work. At the Bear Office, floors were swept and mopped, boxes were moved and organized, bears were sorted and bagged, windows & blinds washed and whatever else needed to be taken care of.

Once the bears were sorted and packed, the unfinished bears needed to be loaded up and taken to the finishing room at the Cumberlans Street Center. Chuck offered to transport the bears but there wasn't enough room for bears and kids. The decision was made to make a few trips to get everything and everyone over to the Cumberland Street Center.

Once the bears were in place, I took some time to share the importance of understanding the value of knowing the difference of doing good and being good. (There are none righteous, no, not one). I shared about Jesus and the real, lasting change that can only come though a personal relationship with Christ.

I was impressed with how attentive the group of teens were and how engaging they were through the time of discussion.

It was a great day and the willingness of this group to help serve was encouraging to all of us at Phillip's Love Bears.
